DWP had previously announced that it would start extending its operating hours to 8pm from August 2018. They have now announced that there will be no extension of operating hours until 10 September at the earliest.
DWP have also announced that they are to move the start of the two 6 monthly working pattern plans to September and March, rather than February and August. This will mean that future rotations will no longer start in August which many members had told us was problematic, clashing with the peak annual leave season.
The consequence of moving the start of future rotations to September and March is that there will have to be a one off 5 week transitional period running from 6 August to 7 September 2018.
This does not mean that working patterns from Rotation 3 are automatically extended for 5 weeks. DWP has agreed that where staff do need to change their working pattern from 6 August managers and teams will work together in their teams to find solutions for staff who require a change.
DWP is still unable to provide its staff with any detail whatsoever about its plans for extending operating hours to 8pm. There have been lengthy discussions with PCS about this, but no firm proposal has, as yet, been put before us.
